How to Bridge the Gap Between Print & Digital
While having a strong digital presence is essential, don’t forget that print is still a powerful marketing tool. Integrating print and digital into your marketing strategy can improve user experience and add extra touch points to encourage your customers to convert. Use these three tactics to help bridge the gap between print and digital and develop a hybrid approach that is consistent across all channels:
1. Use a QR Code
A QR code is a barcode that opens up a hyperlink with a smartphone camera. Including a QR code on printed material is a convenient way for consumers to access supporting digital content and drive people to your website. During the pandemic, restaurants often used QR codes to enable customers to access an online menu as a paper alternative. If you use a QR code, ensure the landing page is mobile-friendly before printing your materials.
2. Create Digital Versions of Printed Materials (and Vice Versa)
Everyone is different – some people prefer print, while others are die-hard digital. Create print and digital versions to reach a wider audience and make it as easy as possible for consumers to access your promotional materials. E.g. If you print a brochure or one-pager, include a PDF version on your website. If you have a printed flyer in circulation, consider uploading a digital flyer to apps such as Flipp or Reebee, or promote printed materials on social media.
3. Use Hashtags
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – consistency is key. If you’re working on a digital campaign, don’t forget to include campaign-specific hashtags on printed pieces. It’s not uncommon to see a hashtag at the end of a commercial to encourage consumers to take action online. Depending on the purpose of your campaign, you could take it to the next level and include the hashtag on promotional merchandise.
