Over the years, Sims Advertising has had the pleasure of planning, designing and running TIMBER MART’s National Flyer Program, and assisting with countless other projects. As a long-standing client of nearly 30 years, we are always excited about the opportunity to support and augment TIMBER MART’s marketing strategy and help their independent Dealers.
In recent years, Sims helped to transform the National Flyer program into the TIMBER MART Smart Marketing Program, which helps Dealers reach their local customer base and gain exposure with consistent messaging through print, digital and social channels. In 2020, this program expanded to include a Project of the Month (POTM) informative catalogue.
The Evolution of Project of the Month
Sims started producing the POTM in 2019, with the first edition launching in January, 2020. The digital publication is filled with home improvement articles, advice and product profiles with a different focus every month (E.g. roofing and siding). The goal was to provide local TIMBER MART customers with insight and know-how on projects they’re likely tackling in those months. The topics are also tied into the flyer offerings, creating an extension of the printed or digital flyer with more impactful content, tips and trends.
Since its inaugural edition, new monthly editions of POTM have been included in digital flyers and available as a downloadable PDF from the TIMBER MART corporate website.
Recently, in 2022, Sims developed the POTM website. By providing a place online for the POTM articles to live as blogs, Dealers can pull fresh content every month and direct their customers to the website, which supports their flyer and positions them as project experts. Over time, customers will have easy access to all previous and new articles from TIMBER MART – Canada’s Building Centre.
Web Design & Development
The POTM website is designed to be easy to navigate and mobile responsive to fit on most screen sizes and browser windows. The relevant content, consistent layout with rounded corners, and high-quality images create a positive user experience. The most important information – the current monthly topic – sits front and centre at the top of the homepage, followed by trending articles which are determined by other user activity on the site.
Website visitors can easily browse projects by publication date or project category and search for keywords if they’re looking for something specific. To accommodate Dealers nationwide, the website is available in English and French.
Having the POTM website on its own standalone site provides valuable backlinks to the main TIMBER MART corporate website and key vendor partners, which positively impacts their SEO and search ranking.
